Sony finally released the PS4 Remote Play app for iOS today, which allows you to play your favourite PS4 games on your iPhone or iPad provided you’re connected to WiFi.
While it’s pretty straightforward to use, we thought we’d put together a guide and FAQ that details the entire process. We’ll also clear up any questions you might have involving connection speeds, playing while away from home, and which devices are supported.
You can grab the PS4 Remote Play app right now from the App Store or Google Play, though bear in mind that the Android version currently only works on Sony Xperia devices.
How to Set Up the PS4 Remote Play App on Your iPhone or iPad:
It’s a pretty easy process which we’ll detail in steps below:
- Grab the PS4 Remote Play app from the App Store. We’ve included a link to it at the top of this article.
- Connect to a high speed internet WiFi network.
- Open the PS4 Remote Play app and sign into your PlayStation network account.
- The app will now search for your PS4.
- Once located, it will automatically connect and you can start using Remote Play right away.
- You’re done!
How do I Change Remote Play Settings?
Hit the gear-shaped icon on the top right of the app to change settings. You can adjust the resolution of the stream, from 360p all the way up to 1080p. You can also change your frame rate, sign into a different network account, and connect to different PS4s. This means friends can use your device to connect to their PS4s.
Which iOS Devices Are Supported?

Can I Connect to My PS4 Using a Different WiFi Network?
Technically, this is feasibly possible, but we couldn’t get this to function during our test. We were even using a much faster internet connection than our home connect, but it said that the speed was too slow.
We’d recommend only trying if you have an insanely fast internet speed, otherwise you’ll have to bit the bullet and only use Remote Play while at home.
